Today was a much better day. I’d taken some of the pressure off myself so I was able to relax a bit and really focus on my writing rather than the word count. I managed 7000 words, bringing the total to 28,000. I’m on track for reaching 50,000 by Sunday.

Not my original goal but still a huge personal achievement!

I’m tired, still have a pounding headache, but I’m also really pleased with how this novel is shaping up. I’m really invested in the characters and I’m loving bringing their stories to life: Natasha, Audrey and Ben are keeping me good company while I write!

Highlights of my day:

·      Meeting a lovely reader who has messaged me before about my books. She came all the way to Guildford with her friend to check in on how I’m getting on. Thank you so much Manda and Nadia – it was lovely to meet you!

·      Meeting a lovely writer and his wife, and chatting about his journey.

·      A kind friend bringing me a cup of tea, just when I needed one.

·      Reaching 28,000 words.

·      Taking the kids to school for their first day back.

Lessons I’ve learned:

·      There are so many awesome people in Guildford, supporting their local independent bookshop, rallying around to make sure Paper Moon continues being the huge success it deserves to be.

Only three more days left. Will I survive?!

I’m ready for you, Day 5! x
