Day 5: Today was a struggle

I’ve decided I’m starting with the positives to try to keep my spirits up. Because throughout the tough bits, there were moments of joy that lifted me out of… let’s just call it a slump day.
What I loved about today:
· It’s day five, so only two more to go.
· Two fab Bookouture authors came to see me today – Anna Mckerrow and Ann Bennett. It was so great to talk to them both and I really appreciate their support.
· My brother visited the shop.
· Three school mum friends turned up right when I needed a break. They encouraged me to go a walk and it was just what I needed.
· A wonderful lady called Mandy from the University of Surrey visited me again to give me a lovely card with Vincent van Gogh’s Café-terrace at Night painting on it. I love this painting and I wish I’d opened the card earlier, instead of when I got home, as inside she’d written an inspirational quote (from Dr Samuel Johnson) that I could have done with when I was flagging: “A wo/man may write at any time, if she/he will set her/himself doggedly to it.”
· Got to 32,000 words.

What didn’t go so well:
· I woke up shattered, when every other morning this week I’ve felt refreshed (not a good omen).
· The livestream stopped working.
· I had to leave an hour early because I was done. I felt like I had no more words left in me.
· I didn't hit my daily word count.
Now I have to write an extra 3000 words to make up today’s shortfall. I’m exhausted but I have no choice otherwise I won’t make 50,000 by Sunday.
Please send thoughts, prayers and a little bit of mental energy would be nice! x
